I took in some animals. Again.
First, I agreed to cat sit for a friend who is going through a tough time. I was told she would be checking in on weekends on her pet, as well as chatting during the week.
The first few days were tough. My cat prefers to be an only cat. She has dealt with me bringing in kittens, and is polite but firm that she is the cat of the house. Well, this is another grown cat, and she isn’t buying it. She is not happy, since the cat roams the house with her, and isn’t confined to a small area like orphaned kittens. It has been a rough week.
To top it off, the cat’s owner didn’t make any attempt to contact me all weekend. She saw her dog, who is cared for by someone else currently, but not the cat.
Then, my husband came acrossed a large litter of orphaned cats that an aquaintance found. So, I am again bottle feeding babies. I love it.
But, I am nervous about the grown cat I took in. I do not want it abandoned in my house. If I were to get a second cat, I want it on my terms, likely one of the orphans, not a cat that is pushed on me as a favor. I will give it another week…and hope the owner shows up.
No good deed goes unpunished. I find that true way too often.
